I am going to Stonehenge on 21st June to watch the sun rise! 8) :Fade-color
It's a minibus trip that leaves London at 1am :!: and returns in the morning.
I've been to Stonehenge before but with thousands of tourists around, and not able to get near the stones, but this is an up-front-and-personal experience & I'm really looking forward to it!

:bday: :smilecolros:

Anyone else doing something special for the solstice?

Is that just a one day trip or are you spending a few days there, Viv?

I can remember when anyone could walk round the stones of Stonehenge at any time. Did so myself many years ago but have lost all of the photos. :(

Have a good time there and at Avebury.

My pal and her daughter are going to a wedding at Stonehenge in July. I told her people aren't allowed near the stones anymore, but she said they have permission for a certain time period.

Yes, Torre, special permission can be obtained! I bet they have a wonderful time! :D
(Except if it pisses with rain, of course. I've had experience of Stonehenge in the rain.)
Is it a pagan wedding?

Nope. Her nephew is getting married here and then there.
My pal was going to tour the area (they're there for only 8 days), but her Scottish cousin insists she visit, so she's talking overnight trains now. That would be to Aberdeen.

Hmm, "cousin insists she visit" or "cousin insists she visits"? I think the first is right, but don't knwo why. Lee?

The first one's right - subjunctive tense.

Learn Spanish - The subjunctive is not a tense; rather, it is a mood.
   Would that have something to do with the Latin temperament?

No, I can't remember what subjunctive, or mood, is. Looking it up, I came across the learning Spanish bit, which I thought was hilarious.
For you, maybe a tense; for us, a mood. (That has to be read with a Spanish accent.)
