I am going to Stonehenge on 21st June to watch the sun rise! It's a minibus trip that leaves London at 1am and returns in the morning. I've been to Stonehenge before but with thousands of tourists around, and not able to get near the stones, but this is an up-front-and-personal experience & I'm really looking forward to it! Anyone else doing something special for the solstice? |

Is that just a one day trip or are you spending a few days there, Viv? |

I can remember when anyone could walk round the stones of Stonehenge at any time. Did so myself many years ago but have lost all of the photos. Have a good time there and at Avebury. |

My pal and her daughter are going to a wedding at Stonehenge in July. I told her people aren't allowed near the stones anymore, but she said they have permission for a certain time period. |

Yes, Torre, special permission can be obtained! I bet they have a wonderful time! (Except if it pisses with rain, of course. I've had experience of Stonehenge in the rain.) Is it a pagan wedding? |

helenoftheways wrote: Is it a pagan wedding? Nope. Her nephew is getting married here and then there. My pal was going to tour the area (they're there for only 8 days), but her Scottish cousin insists she visit, so she's talking overnight trains now. That would be to Aberdeen. Hmm, "cousin insists she visit" or "cousin insists she visits"? I think the first is right, but don't knwo why. Lee? |

The first one's right - subjunctive tense. |
