Post subject:  First 1 hour gong bath

I will be giving my first one hour-long gong bath next Monday evening. :D I've only managed 35 minutes up to now so it shouldn't be too difficult to do a bit more.

Once that is under my belt I will start to look for a venue so that I might be able to do this at least once a month so that I can recover the cost of my gongs (and perhaps buy some more BUT don't tell SWMBO this - she has already made me sell one of my gongs when I bought a new one). I gripe too much, the one I sold was one I didn't really 'warm' to.

So I have my 32" nickle-silver Mars gong, the very shiny stainless steel 24" Om Art Gong, a new 16" bronze Sun-burst gong and the 8.25" Brass dinner gong. Between them they make a jolly good sound (even if I do say it myself  ).

They all fit into the large padded gong bag (one inside the other in their own thinner carry bags) and the big stand breaks down so that it fits into the back of our little car and the small stand, which I made myself :) folds flat and just fits into the car - but only just, more by luck than judgement.

My neighbour was throwing away a folding metal trestle. I saw it in his skip and asked if I could have it. It needed cleaning, some holes drilled into it and some eye-bolts cut to length and cut open to form hooks and, bingo, a stand for the two smallest gongs. Best of all it was so cheap! :D

It's all looking good, Paul! I bet you wish you'd got into this years ago!

It all went well on Monday. Everyone seemed to like it.

There was however one slight snag - the venue had been double booked! Fortunately we were in possession and all set to go when the other group, a patchwork sewing group, turned up. The Caretaker was called and he placed them in a smaller room where they seemed to be having a hilarious time. They were allowed to access the kitchen for their break by way of two Fire Escape doors and a short trip down the outside of the building and so did not disturb us during the gong bath. I don't know if we disturbed them because they left before we had finished.

I will have to check with the bookings person so that this doesn't happen again.

Such is life.

I went to a gong bath last night, Paul - all free! It was a great experience. I'll post a couple of pics when I get my act together.

I must say that I thought 1 hour was just 10 or 15 minutes too long. But that's just me.
I went with Ruth, who is very bothered about her partial hair loss from the one chemo treatment she had; she called me the next day & said she could suddenly feel fluff on her scalp & that the gongs must have done it!!

I wasn't expecting you or Ruth to have a hairy experience.

How was your gong bath, Lynn? :D

Very relaxing Helen, thanks for asking :) Nige attended too, he's not into new age weird stuff like us ;) but he had a go and he nearly fell asleep. The hour passed really quickly.
I felt spaced out afterwards and then later we went to Sika's didge healing sound journey workshop, so after that I was completely zonked.
I've no idea what was going on in my gut during the gong bath, all kinds of re-arrangement and gurgling, my intestines felt like they'd had an experience! Sound healing often makes me feel like my internal organs have had a massage.

Stomach gurgling is usually a good sign, Lynn.

I am surprised that the gong player did not ensure that you all were fully grounded before letting you go.

The didge player did, but I was still spaced out. The gong player, Sally, was a bit stressed cos she only had about 3 minutes to get out of the room before the next workshop and her helper had gone missing, so a few of us helped her to carry out her gongs and stands etc. Blimey I could barely even lift the gong it was so heavy! Good job Nige was there to help.

Here's Sally and her gongs, she plays them about 4.5 mins into the video

That used to happen to my clients a lot when I did reflexology!
