I might be able to fit Disraeli in as well, HoM, provided he isn't too large :P

I've just emailed Fay and the NT to book two places for SWMBO and myself.

If any of you want a lift from Solihull to Clent (this time the offer isn't in tiny print   ) please let me know and we can make the appropriate arrangements.

We had a super time and it was considerably warmer down in the valleys.

The wind at the Four Stones was bitterly and bitingly cold. The Stones are just over 1000 feet above sae level and have unrestricted winds from central Russia.

We escaped after the dowsing to The Queen's restaurant at Bellbroughton where we had a super meal. The others stayed at the National Trust cafe at the car park and had sausage/bacon sandwiches and/or home made soup - in the open air (too cold for us).

We are off again!

Here we are today, dowsing around Ashow Church.

this is the East end of the Chancel

Image

can you see the grooves where the vilagewrs used to sharpen their arrows?

Here is Fay pointing to them

Image

And here is a close up of them. They are where the villagers are reputedly sharpened their arrow heads when they were required by law to practice their archery immediately after attending church services.

Image

And a view down the South side of the church showing the very old Yew tree

It was a lovely cool day and I hope to go on more of these events - even thought the cost has gone up by 40% since last year.
