On 25th April, I'm going to a day workshop called the Wheel of Life, with the Zoence Academy - the same people who ran the Paneurythmy weekend last year.

There are other workshops too, and many are run at this lovely place, Holycombe House, where I went last year..

Wheel of Life. It sounded pretty pagan & shamanic to me, so I signed up! :)

Oops, missed this!

Paneurythmy is sacred circling dancing, originating in Bulgaria. Literally the word Paneurythmy means ‘the movements and rhythms of the universe’.

The Sacred Circle

I had a lovely day at Holycombe. :) Very gentle, inspiring & friendly. The place was as beautiful as ever. We did a lot of 'exploring our place in space' exercises at the start - trying out circles, ovals, squares etc, quite interesting. Then the theory behind the mandala we were going to make. And after lunch we made it...on the floor, each one contributing their bit (there were 11 of us)..

Here is Sarah Dawkins, the facilitator (the one looking as if she's posing! :lol!: ), wife of Peter Dawkins who writes all the books.

This is the labyrinth traced out on a hillside beside the house..sorry it's not too good..

The standing stones that the house owners have erected on the site where the old castle used to be..

Image

Part of the moat that was around the castle - I found a nest with eggs in it! Unfortunately it looks as if they've been abandoned. :( I'll have to find out which waterfowl they belong to.

Now don't laugh... :lol!: ...this is me up a tree house I found! It was made for 7 year olds, and I got stuck - had to come down backwards!!

:D

Thanks for sharing your day - what a great time you had.

I loved the idea of the mandala - it looked fab with lots of creativity and colour and texture.

Never thought of doing one in that way before.

Great you always take a camera too, to share with us.

Thanks Thais.

did you break up the mandala, like the monks do, to show the Impermanence of things?

Not break it exactly - we removed the things we'd put there, in reverse order to how they were placed, each one removing their own bits & pieces. The centrepiece of the bowl + candle + flowers was there originally when we started, as the 'core'.

There will be another Paneurhythmy Dance & Movement Intro Workshop at Holycombe on 24th April 2009 from 10am - 5pm, costing £45 (This is a Friday)

It's part of a 3-day training workshop from 24 - 26 April costing £205. Full details will be found on http://www.zoence.co.uk

An absolutely brilliant place to spend a relaxing weekend in Spring, if nothing else! :)
