We are going to Strasbourg to the European Parliament between the 18th and 23rd of October with 43 of our friends from the U3A and so I will not be on line bertween those dates but, hopefully, will have a tale to tell and photos to show for our trip.
The only thing that makes it cheaper for us is that we each get a subsidy of 200 Euros plus a meal allowance of about 37 Euros. We MUST attend and go round the Parliament building to obtain our subsidy and meet our MEP
.
With the Pound Sterling at a low against the Euro (each Euro being almost equal to one Pound) it is an excellent subsidy. The only flaw is that WE (being the whole UK)have paid for this subsidy in our contribution to the European Community - but at least those of us on the trip will get a bit back.
Still, not to worry because there is a wine tasting tour on the way down as well as a trip round the vast cellars of the Mercier Champagne organisation on the way back. So photos might be bit shaky if I do too much tasting.
