We went to Aston Hall in Birmingham, UK with our U3A and here are a few photos.

Aston Hall was built by Sir Thomas Holte in 1618. Well, it was started in 1618, and completed by 1635.

it is full of commodious chambers

It was besieged in the Civil War and still has the canon ball damage to the balustrade of the Grand Staircase

Having undergone recent restoration, here are the new seats in Lady Holte's garden.

there is a public house close by the main entrance called the Holte and behind the pub is (for those who are interested in those things) is the'Holte End' of

Aside from loving the pictures and getting to travel again (and remembering how to be invisible, but not that good at it yet Paul :D ).

Forgive my non-erudition....I could go look it up, but sometimex I just love being taught by friends....what the hexx Civil War are we talking about? You know our US8 edumacation system is extremely xenophobic. Give me a name and I'll do the rest.
