My friend Allison & I are going to Costa Rica in November to check out a resort to see if it would be suitable for the rest of the geezer gang for our annual holiday (which, next Feb, will probably be to Margarita Island, off Venezuela). We're used to the all-inclusive, big resort thing, so this will be different. It's eighteen 2-bdrm villas, built, for rent and sale, by a Canadian couple who are friends of Allison's b-i-l.

Al has talked me into zip lining, so the pictures might be interesting. Here's me hitting the tree (what tree?), here's me being peeled off the tree...

That thing called time is flapping like crazy.
There are three of us going now--first thing Monday morning.
I checked out the video mode of my digital camera. It has no audio :( so the screaming will be silent. Movie mode also eats batteries. Don't know how to fasten the camera to my person while hanging onto a zip line.
Adios muchachos.

It was a good trip. We had a stopover in Panama City (airport only) on the way back. From the air, Panama City is a modern, skyscraper vista, and there were hundreds of freighters in the ocean waiting to go through the canal.

I don't have many interesting pictures. My pals saw monkeys, but all I saw were the branches waving as they travelled from treetop to treetop. In our locale, they were black howler monkeys and we had no idea of the loud roaring they make. Very eerie.

This is a common view in C.R.

The rainy season had been good, so everything was green. Sometimes, that doesn't happen and last year they even had fires.

We stayed just outside Coco Beach on the Pacific, but that beach is busy with tourists and fishing boats, so we sunned (I burned) on Hermosa Beach, which was nearby. The beaches have dark sand. The water was very warm.

Cookie, who was raised by the owners. They have an animal rescue org called Ditch Dogs and had five dogs and numerous cats roaming the place. All the dogs I saw looked similiar--medium-sized, flop-earred, short-haired, houndish. The cats all looked long-legged & tailed, short-haired, big-earred and skinny.

Main patio area. Owners live upstairs. They would bbq supper every night, for whomever wanted to show up and chip in. We cooked our own breakfasts in the villa. I tried (tuna) sushi. Apparently, it was good. I can, at least, say I've tried it.

There were 18 villas on the side of a hill, in the rainforest.

Although there is an embed code, I can't get the videos into this post. These are direct links that might require Quicktime.

Funnily enough, Helen, it was about 60 F when we got in. It's 28F at the moment, but we haven't had any snow yet, not even a flurry.

Next trip in 10-1/2 weeks to Margarita Island. Ten weeks, ten pounds. If only.

I'm a traveling fool. Al (white shirt on the right) & I are going back to C.R. in December. We're taking another couple of gals. Same place, so the pictures have already been provided. This time, we're going to drive to a volcano.

We'll leave the choice of volcanoes up to our host. She said there were several, but they can be covered in cloud.
