I thought Margaritaville was a drink reference.....laffing so hard. Have a beautiful time Torre...my one-leg shy of a twosome SIL went there back in the 80's and said it was one of the most fabulous gorgeous and wonderful trips they ever took. They are pretty seasoned traveler's since her hubs was VP of Tandem's Pacific/Australian arms.

Aloha nui kuuipo,

As for pictures....I was counting on my husband to take them because he was acting like a regular paparazzi. Alas, his camera (among other things) was stolen from his suitcase on the way home. Since the military was frisking the baggage handlers in Venezuela, he suspects it was the handlers in Toronto. Whichever, gone is gone. I will eventually get shots from other members of the group.

The weather was terrific--in the 80s every day with a good breeze. The resort was fine, the food adequate, the booze flowing. I was surprised at the number of Spanish-speaking guests. We've encountered a few in other areas of the Caribbean, but not in such large numbers. It's illogical on my part, but I always think, "you folks already live in a tropical country; why pay to go next door to another tropical country?" Anyway, second largest group was French, mostly from France, then Germans. Very few British there, unlike in Cuba. Mostly, we referred to the other guests, with good reason, as rude foreigners.

This shot of the pool shows the hilly terrain in the background.

Our beach. The waves were big and often the red flags were out to warn against undertow.

We didn't do any day tours, but the others did various things. The catamaran ride included a mudbath.

These little guys were kept penned during the day and let loose at night. They're capybaras.

The Geezer Gang. This trip, the ages ranged from 21 to 84. I'm in the front row clutching by purse strings.

Yes, pink shirt, red nose. Hubs is in back row in white, although there's a close-up of him on the Cuba thread, page 1, albeit a few years younger.

(Would it be a lot of trouble moving this thread to the Travel category? And if it's not too much trouble, maybe Cuba could follow. I found it in General.)
