Here are some photos of the Temple of the Sagrada Familia, Barcelona which you might not have seen before - the INSIDE.

The Interior was cleared of scaffolding in November 2010 for the visit and dedication by the Pope. Sagrada Familia was blessed as an interdenominational Temple.

The columns represent the trunks of trees and they branch and divide into golden leaves. Eventually , when all of the external scaffolding is removed, the ceiling bosses will glow with light because they connect directly through light boxes to the outside.

The design is still being built to Goudi's notes and sketches and the current Architect, who is 86 years old, still appears doing hands-on-site design. The Corona over the main Altar has been fashioned on that in the Cathedral of Palma Mallorca becuse, although Goudi did not leave any sketch or design, he did remark that he would base his on that in Palma.

Amazing photos, Paul, thanks for sharing.

Interdenominational eh? I wonder how many Muslims will go there to pray?

None :(

If I remember correctly the current towers are 200 feet high, the new towers for the four apostles will be 300 feet high, there will be a tower for Mary the Mother of Jesus at 400 feet high and the final tower over the Transept for God will be 500 feet high!

If you look at the photos, the main aisle columns are in a grey stone but the Transept columns are in a pink stone. I can't remember the types of stone in each  .

They've still got a long way to go.
