We are off to the Isles of Scilly on Tuesday for a week's break with friends :D so I won't be posting until about the 25th or even later.

Please be good while I'm away and I will try to post a link to some photos on my return that will not result in the 'Avebury Treatment'.

Also watch this space for details of our next trip away at the end of August!!! :D :D :D

Thanks folks!

I will have a wonderful time provided I can survive the panic of packing with Gill.

You should be experienced packers by now.

We SHOULD be, Torre, but Gill always goes into stress mode immediately before we go away - washing, re-washing, sewing , etc., etc. and I just have to put up with it.

Lists and lists of things to take and, because this is a self catering holiday, small packages of her types of food all of which I have to carry because anything too heavy 'puts her shoulder out'.

Heigh ho, off we go tomorrow!

Just to let you know that we are back after seven days of wall-to-wall extreme (for us) sunshine in the upper 70's Fahrenheit. The 29 mile ferry boat trip was like a millpond both ways. This together with the weather is, we are told, most unusual for the Scillies.

We visited all of the inhabited islands - Staying on St Mary's - and going each day by local boat to a different one - Tresco, St Martin's. Bryher (the 'h' is silent), St Agnes and Gugh (pronounced 'Goo'). We finished with a golf-type buggy trip around St Mary's but trudged around all of the others.

We found the ancient stone age linked mazes on St Martins and managed to walk some of them - this was on the 20th June, one day before the Solstice - BUT managed to find a labyrinth - possibly a modern one, but nevertheless a real labyrinth - on St Agnes which we walked on the Solstice, 21 st June. We also saw several burial chambers and the remains of a Stone age village on St Mary's.

I will post some photos as soon as I have downloaded them.

Here is a link to some of our photos (with comments) which I have placed in a Public Album in Google so, hopefully, there will not be a problem viewing them.

\holiday Snaps

Fingers crossed.

Most of the birds on the Scillies are very tame, having no fear of people, and they come to within two or three feet.

That blackbird was about three feet away from me and was very relaxed as it sunbathed.
