:) I've also put a deposit down on a week's trip to the Isle of Man in June with the U3A!
I'm getting really daring! :lol!:

I've always fancied sussing out the Isle of Man - it seems a very enigmatic place & I'd like to see the Ogham Stones.

Have any of you been to the Isle of Man?

I went tothe I o M in 1959!

Lovely place. You MUST say hello to the Fairies at the Fairy Bridge. You can go up Snaefell (the mountain) and go and look at the Great water wheel at Laxey and just enjoy the place.

I got a reminder today that that this year's subscription to the U3A was due, and decided I wouldn't renew it - I'm not really interested in Greek Philosophy or mah jong or studying architecture!! And I'm not able to take very long walks these days with my hip prob. So I rang the lady about this trip to see if I'd still be eligible for it, and she said yes! :multi:

I've just paid my sub for U3A. It's only $20 a year. I eat that many biscuits!

Well....yes and no! It's a very odd place - sort of a parallel world, or a different planet! Weather very unpredictable. The room was small & stuffy, with noisy seagulls squawking all night & the sound of bottles being broken all the time (it was called a Sleepwell Hotel! )
Everything is quite expensive, specially transport....maybe with my Freedom Pass I'm just out of touch with the cost of transport!!
Two days were just about wiped out with the fog that descends when you least expect it. And I mean can't-see-your-hand-in-front-of-your-face fog!! Scary. The place is much more like Ireland than England, and the attitude is very Irish too! :) I got the definite impression that humans have a very precarious hold there and, if they were all to go, nature would take over & in 10 years, you'd never know civilisation had been there at all! :o Still, it was an experience. If you ever feel like going - fly!! Definitely!

PS I did meet some fairies though and also saw a Manx cat & sheep! :D Pics to follow when I get my act together.
