The 'bird' in front is my Jill, the rest are cormorants.


The Fox glacier has receded 5 miles since 1935, don't be fooled by the size of the people in the foreground, if you look closely you will see some tiny figures left of centre at the foot of the glacier! It's big!


At Moeraki, the strange rounded boulders adorn the beach:

And new ones are 'birthed' from the cliff face.


And there's gold in them thar hills! Jill's effort in 5 minutes!

Reminds me of our visit a few years back.

We would go again but our relatives have returned to the UK for a couple of years.

I can't actually see the tiny people in front of the the glacier, but I'll take your word for it! What a wow to get so close to one! Can you give us a map reference to these places?

And did tuicampers pay you for that advert?

I would dearly love to! But to go that far, you'd have to stay at least 3 weeks to make it worth it, if not more, IMO. I'll have to wait till Lulu is no longer with me. Apart from the fact that it'd cost an arm & a leg. But if I considered it as 'the last thing to do before I die' - it may happen, cos the money wouldn't matter!

I can't think of a better place to go to experience everything spectacular the earth has to offer, from mountains to rivers, from rain forests to glaciers! And penguins, of course! Definitely a future date & destination! And they drive on the left!
