Last Friday Roo and I went into Amsterdam on the train. I like Dutch trains they are clean and punctual. I also like to go upstairs and watch the world go by from the elevated position of the top deck. This is particularly good in Holland as the flatness of the landscape gives access to tremendously long views.
Whilst we were in Amsterdam we hired bikes and cycled around various places I wanted to see. Cycling around Amsterdam on Friday afternoon is not for the faint hearted however, it is well worth the effort as getting around various locations on foot would simply take too long.
One of the must see things on my list was the three dimensional representation of Rembrandt's huge painting entitled De Nacht Wacht [the Night Watch] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Night_Watch_(painting). I have seen the actual painting but I had never seen the representation in Rembrandt's Plein. Well worth a visit the next time you are in Amsterdam.

Very interesting pics, Drew. 8) You are pretty enamoured of Holland, aren't you? You've been lucky to have so many opportunities to explore the place.

Yes, I like Holland. Culturally it is not far different from England although they do have some interesting differences. I enjoy travel. I used to travel a lot when I was working and now that I am retired I still carry on, although it is for pleasure now.
I am planning a trip to Spain early next year to build a mezzanine in a large room in my daughters house in Spain. I measured up for it last time I went and I am presently working on the plans for it. I will take the car across from Plymouth to Bilbao or Santander and drive down through Spain. I need the car as I will require quite a bit of gear in order to do the job.
