This may not be news to anyone else, but I've discovered a treasure at my local library. They have over 20,000 books that are digitized and available to read without leaving home! You can even get them in audio format!! You can adjust the type size, the background and type color! You can suggest books and they actually get them for you. They will teach you how to download the apps and help you to access them all. I'm over the moon with joy! I just got to read a fascinating book about Eleanor Roosevelt and another about the recent archaeological adventure into city of the Monkey God in the Honduran rainforest. They have a wonderful collection of Louise Erdrich. So many books.....all free!!! What a concept.

I've read about that Monkey God book twice in the last couple weeks, so it must be a new one. One review said the book was a nailbiter.

It's really good and it's chock full of science, Honduran culture (sure thought of you Torre), medical twists/turns, DNA and colorful adventurers vs. academia. A very provocative book that examines the past and it's mysteries, that could impact our future. Sure thought Lee would enjoy it too.

I was hoping that digital libraries were available and accessible everywhere. Books are getting so expensive and hard to find in large print.

Here's a link to an article about the excavation site: http://news.nationalgeographic.com/2015 ... chaeology/

When I read about all the things that could kill a scientist in Honduras, I thought, whew, Roatan wasn't like that.
Don't know if our library has that service; I don't have an ipad or tablet, just a PC and I like to flop when I read.
