Post subject:  The Day the Pub BUrned down!

The boys had gathered in the bar upon that fateful day.
By horse and foot and motor-car they all had made their way.
While listening to Manuka Jones, New Zealand's finest liar,
We heard a cry that chilled the bones: "The flamin' Pub's on fire!"

There'd been a drought for weeks and weeks: the wells and tanks were dry.
No water flowed along the creeks, we had no town-supply.
The blazing sun, without relent, turned all the green to brown -
Imagine our predicament, the day the Pub burned down.

Through smoke and flame we dragged the booze to safety out the door,
Then thought of what we stood to lose, and rushed back in for more!
"Stand by - the Fire Brigade is here!" (those men of high renown):
"Oh, fireman, fireman, save the beer and let the Pub burn down!"

They stoved the tops of barrels in while strong men knelt to pray,
Shoved their flippin' hoses in and shouted "Pumps away!"
They fought with beer and lemonade, that raging fire to drown:
We fought and cursed the Fire Brigade, the day the Pub burned down.

Now moreporks haunt the old pub-site 'round Wapakiwi town,
And 'shikkers' roam the hills at night to hunt the firemen down.
They curse the cash they cannot spend, their raging thirst to drown:
Dry horrors drove them 'round the bend, the day the Pub burned down.

Love the ballad....always takes a liar-I mean bard to tell the truth...
am laffing so hard still,
for I read in the epaper about two NZ boys who broke out of jail the other day....and, they were handcuffed together.

In their flight, they accidentally ran into a lamp post and smacked into to each other,
both blaming the other for the outcome. Can't remember what their bad deeds were,
but loved the tale,
and this one too.
love,

About the same time Linny, an enterprising young burglar took his balaclava mask off so that he might have a better look at the CCTV camera. Too Late!! Thankfully these people don't vote!

So have you been watching the plate tectonix as well? Like how the Yellowstone Hotspot is heating up? Or there is a new intra-plate fault line running through Arkansas that has just been discovered? May be off topic here.

Most folks don't care all that much since it's happening in the USA'x-which is the fulcrum of all crumminexx.

Laffing so hard about taking the masks off-note to self: do not look into the camera unless the aluminux hatx are being worn..
why does crime in NZ seem more friendly?

if wishes were fishes we'd all cast nets,

I understand that Yellowstone has the potential to be catastrophic! Found an interesting little visual aid for comparative eruptions a year or so ago:

Spent a very nice day at Lake Taupo a few years back. I've even got some pumice from there but I didn't stop to think about how it had been made.

Then, again NZ, with all its hot springs, craters of the moon, Rotorua, etc must be sitting on another time bomb.

It's not a question of "if" but "when" ! :)

I know, Michael, but NZ has 'lasted' another 14 years without a ginormous Rotorua/Taupo-like incident. :)
