Exhausting day at the fair! And practically nowhere to sit down!!
At least the weather was OK.
I bought...wait for it... a pokey stick
that was described as a swagger stick...priced at £12 but I laughed him down to a fiver! I won't post a pic cos you'll think I'm crazy!
Also a ...umm...
cow horn made into a little 'trumpet' that actually works.
And lastly a very old little photo album (dropping to bits) of an unknown person, documenting a life from the start of the 20thC up to about the 1950s; I browsed through it, and was so moved that I bought it for a fiver. One of the few photos that has anything written on it, says on the back 'Kathleen's Confirmation' - I thought it was a wedding photo at first. Fantastic social documentation - I'd love to know who it belonged to!
Oh - for a quid, I bought a little pewter dish with an odd Nordic-style image impressed onto it, of a sorta Norseman with a Viking helmet on a boat, holding out something in his hands....just took my fancy, as they do.
Then we went to the town of Lewes (didn't know this was going to happen) where I had a lovely bowl of cauliflour & cheese soup
in the Casbah Cafe before heading back to the coach - not nearly enough time there, I wanted to go see the castle, but couldn't. Not a bad day in all though - but I was away from home for 10 & 1/2 hours & Stan was very cross with me when I got back!
